It Is No Secret

   Most people have some sort of religion. At least they know which church they are staying away from.

   This is the 'gospel' truth: My wife has been working for a well-known South African Bank for twenty-six years.  One of the worst fears of any bank official is the threat of an armed Bank-robbery (most Bank-robberies are armed robberies anyway).
   Well, one day it happened ... she was caught up in the horror of an armed Bank-robbery in Pretoria, South Africa. The robbers were heavily armed with handguns, and upon descending upon the Bank, they immediately started barking out their orders to the terrified staff and clientele.
   Due to my wife's pivotal role in the administrative department, the robbers used her as their official 'spokesperson' and mediator between them and the rest of the public and the Bank-staff. Needless to say, they demanded absolute compliance and for the staff and public to immediately hand over all wallets, handbags, purses, cash on hand, jewelry and cell-phones.
   The public, of course, had to hit the floor as instructed and were disposing of their precious belongings as swiftly as humanly possible. The robbery happened at lightning speed, and five minutes later everything was over.  Fortunately nobody got killed or shot, and, although everybody was understandably severely shaken, no injuries were reported.
   My wife, a devout believer, phoned me a few minutes later at my motel in Rustenburg (South Africa) to relate her harrowing ordeal to me. Now check this out: In their haste to get out of the Bank as fast as possible with as much loot as possible, the robbers had completely overlooked my wife's belongings ... they were so busy issuing orders and collecting their booty that they forgot to ask my wife to hand over her stuff. She walked out of the Bank with her handbag, jewelry, cell-phone and cash on hand all still intact.
   Bear in mind that, a few months later, my wife and daughter were crushed at a junction at the traffic lights ('robots' in South Africa) ) between a 'Ssangyong'  and an 'Isuzu Hardbody'.  Her little 'Nissan Almera' was a complete write-off, but their lives were spared, and they soon recovered from that ordeal. For us it certainly is no secret what God can do!  Whatever this may mean in the proper theological context, Charles Spurgeon has said that the Christian is 'invincible' until his work on Earth is done. This does not mean that other praying and believing (but less fortunate) Christians are lessor believers than she is, but as the song says, "We''ll understand it all by and by."

It Is No Secret

(Stuart Hamblen, 1908-1989)

The chimes of time ring out the news,
Another day is through.
Someone slipped and fell;
Was that someone you?
            You may have longed for added strength,
Your courage to renew.
Do not be disheartened;
I have news for you.

There is no night, for in His light
You’ll never walk alone.
You’ll always feel at home wherever you may roam.
 There is no power can conquer you,
While God is on your side.
Take Him at His promise.
Don’t run away and hide.

CHORUS
It is no secret what God can do,
What He’s done for others,
He’ll do for you.
With arms wide open,
He’ll pardon you,
It is no secret what God can do.
